Many people fear going the dentist. They’re afraid of the needles, the drilling, the surgery, the tooth extractions — and the list goes on. When the atmosphere in the dental office seems institutional and the dentist is cold and professional that typically doesn’t make the experience pleasant either.
At Hutto Hippo Family Dental our staff and dentist like to be cheerful, friendly, sensitive and compassionate about our patient’s needs. We try to create an atmosphere that is as relaxing and reassuring as possible. People often comment that it seems like we’re having fun, and it’s not unusual hear laughter in the background. Dr. Baker loves what he does and enjoys helping people. So does our whole staff.
Aside from creating an upbeat atmosphere, advances in dental technology have made trips to the dental less painful than there were in the past. A prime example of this is LANAP, which stands for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure. LANAP is the surgical procedure we use to handle gum disease. In the past, gum surgery involved cutting with scalpels, removing tissues and sometimes part of the bone as well. Then the dentist would sew up the gum. However, with LANAP, there is no cutting and no bone removal. The laser actually stimulates bone growth and most people can immediately go back to work and resume their normal routines.
With the new technology we have to replace traditional metal braces, straightening teeth has also been a much less painless experience. Digital technology and other technological advancements have made treatment go faster, requiring less dental visits.
