Six months ago, I had the privilege of becoming the owner and dentist at Hutto Hippo Family Dental. Since then, I have thought carefully about what I want patients to feel when choosing our office. Above everything else, I want you to know this:
When you need us, we are here to support you.
Whether it is a checkup, a question about treatment or insurance, or a tooth that starts hurting over the weekend, I want you to feel comfortable reaching out — and confident that a team who knows you is paying attention.
Here When You Need Us
~300
new patients in six months
61
new patients in July — our strongest month yet
50+
weekend calls & messages answered
Across those six months, our team cared for patients through 2,490 visits. Whether it was someone’s first appointment or fortieth, each visit was another opportunity to earn that trust.
To every new patient who chose us, and every longtime patient who continued to trust us — thank you.
Those weekend messages also included urgent dental concerns. Although we are not open around the clock, we check messages when the office is closed. If something sounds urgent, we try to respond and help you decide what to do next; routine questions may wait until we reopen.
Reaching us over the weekend
Please tell us what you are experiencing and whether it feels urgent or manageable until the office reopens. That helps us understand how best to support you.
If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, have a serious facial or jaw injury, or believe you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
When you reach out, I can review your chart, X-rays, and past treatment before responding, so you never have to explain your whole dental history again. To us, you are never just a message.
Care That Begins With Listening
My approach begins with listening. Before recommending anything, I want to understand what you are feeling and what matters most to you — then explain what I see, why, and what your choices are. I recommend only the care I believe you need, not the most treatment possible. Dental anxiety, comfort, timing, and cost are all part of that conversation.
Our care does not stop when you go home. After a larger procedure, we may check in to see how your recovery is going, and if something concerns you, we can review it together, arrange an urgent visit, or help with an insurance or account question.
The Team Behind Every Visit
I am deeply grateful to Maria, Lakyne, Kelly, and Jennifer, who continued caring for our patients through this transition. Their commitment has kept Hutto Hippo familiar and dependable. We were also happy to welcome Lucia and Ana.

An appointment that starts on time and feels organized is the work of an entire team — records reviewed, rooms prepared, insurance checked. And when tooth pain or anxiety makes a day harder, they meet it with patience. A kind word or a simple “thank you” means more to them than you might realize.
Making Things a Little Easier
We have also been improving the small things, often behind the scenes — keeping records organized and making messages, insurance questions, and follow-ups easier to handle.

Some patients like completing forms at home, scheduling online, or paying through a secure link. Others would rather call or text, and that is perfectly fine — technology will never be the only way to reach us. If you do not see the time you need online, please call; some visits simply need a conversation so we can reserve the right amount of time.
Thank You for Continuing to Trust Us
Many of you trusted Dr. Baker and Hutto Hippo Family Dental for years, and I am deeply grateful that you have continued to trust our team. Thank you for adapting with us through this change — and especially for bringing your concerns directly to us. Your feedback helps us address concerns and make future visits better.
Trust is not something I expect simply because I became the owner of this practice. It is something my team and I must continue to earn through every appointment, phone call, text message, and follow-up.
Over the next six months, my priority is not more technology or more patients. It is stronger relationships with the people who trust us with their care.
When you need us, we are here to listen, understand, and help you decide what to do next.
